Alcohol use as a well-established part of human culture - is something that has become almost as acceptable as eating and breathing. As a social facilitator and feel good drug of choice for many, alcohol is very popular indeed, with consumption at mass levels. Alcoholic beverages are divided into three general classes : beers, wines, and spirits. Beers contain about 2 percent to about 8 percent of alcohol, Wine contain from 8 to 14 percent alcohol; Spirits contain 40 to 50 percent alcohol.
In small quantities alcoholic beverages cannot be harmful they are harmful if they are consumed in excess amounts. Long-term excessive alcohol consumption is associated with obesity, heart damage, high blood pressure and stroke, liver damage, cancers of the digestive system, other digestive system disorders (e.g. stomach ulcers), sexual impotence and reduced fertility, increasing risk of breast cancer, sleeping difficulties, brain damage with mood and personality changes, concentration and memory problems.
But the interesting thing is alcohol in moderation may give you health benefits such as it decreases the risk of cardiovascular problems, decreases the possibility of lethal heart attack, sometimes, alcohol reduces the possibility of ischemic or other kind of strokes, diminishes the possibility of gallstone and it may reduce the diabetes danger.
If you drink alcohol, drink sensibly and keep few things in your mind such as drink alcohol in moderation, never drink alcohol and drive a car, do not drink on an empty stomach, snack before and while drinking alcohol, drink water between alcoholic drinks. So it would be better to drink a smaller quantity of liqueur with a healthier, lower calorie base such as trim milk or tomato juice.
