ALHOSN University’s Engineering programs to support energy development in the UAE

ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high-quality and value-based education, will demonstrate how its engineering programs complement energy developments in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE during the Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) Education Fair which started today (Wednesday, March 17, 2010) and will run until March 24, 2010 at the Sheikh Khalifa Complex in Abu Dhabi.

ZADCO is the developer and operator of the Upper Zakum Field in offshore Abu Dhabi, one of the largest oil fields in the world. It also operates the neighboring Umm Al Dalkh and Satah fields. The three major shareholders of ZADCO are Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (60 per cent), ExxonMobil (28 per cent), and Japan Oil Development Company Ltd. (12 per cent).

ALHOSN was chosen along with 26 other educational institutions to familiarize ZADCO and the local community with the UAE’s top education providers. The University will exhibit its programs and services alongside prominent institutions such as the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the UAE Army, the ADNOC Technical Institute, and the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, among others.

According to the Vice Chancellor of ALHOSN University, Dr. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, ZADCO’s educational fair will provide an excellent opportunity for ALHOSN to highlight its significant achievements and social contributions in its five years of promoting academic excellence. Dr. Sabouni added that the event would also give ZADCO and other delegates a chance to assess how the skills of ALHOSN’s students can be aligned with their particular organizational needs. He expressed the university’s desire to match engineering skills developed in its students to energy development needs in Abu Dhabi and throughout the Emirates.
ALHOSN University recently marked its 5th Anniversary with a Gala Dinner at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, during which it reaffirmed its commitment to address the needs of society, raise awareness on environmental issues, and promote educational excellence. ALHOSN offers eleven undergraduate and seven graduate programs under three faculties, all of which are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The University is open to students of all nationalities.
