February 22, 2012 (Houston) – alliantgroup hosted a meeting with former Governor of Alabama, Bob Riley yesterday at their Houston national headquarters. The former Governor met with several members of the alliantgroup executive team including Dhaval Jadav, CEO; Shane Frank, COO; Dean Zerbe, National Managing Director and former Tax Counsel to the Senate Finance Committee; Mark Everson, Vice Chairman and former IRS Commissioner; Jim Ramstad, Senior Advisor and former U.S. Congressman; and Rick Lazio, Director and former U.S. Congressman.
alliantgroup is the leading provider of specialty tax services, and the meeting was centered around how alliantgroup may be able to assist more businesses in Alabama with taking advantage of the various federal and state tax incentives available to them. Often businesses are unaware that their daily activities will qualify for significant tax savings and refunds. In fact, millions of dollars each year go untapped by small and middle-market businesses.
alliantgroup has already been able to assist nearly 50 Alabama businesses claim $7.7 million in Research and Development Tax Credits. “But we know there are more businesses we can help – businesses who can use the money to reinvest in their operations to remain competitive, hire more employees, and continue to strengthen the local and national economy,” said alliantgroup’s Dean Zerbe. In just one example of how an Alabama business was able to claim substantive tax dollars, alliantgroup assisted an engineering firm with a tax study that uncovered close to $1 million. These funds allowed the firm to add hundreds of jobs, illustrating the powerful impact of tax credit dollars on the local economy.
In addition to engineering firms, manufacturing, architecture, contracting, and many other industries are not taking full advantage of tax incentives such as the R&D credit, export incentives, and energy-efficient building deductions. “It is clear from our lengthy discussions with Governor Riley that he cares deeply about his state of Alabama. He is very interested in making sure businesses are aware of these opportunities,” said Dhaval Jadav, alliantgroup CEO. The former Governor commented on how impressed he was with the alliantgroup team of experts.
