Are you still new to printing custom calendars? Well, before you start out, you might want to first learn about the typical mistakes that many amateurs commit when developing their own designs for calendars. You do not want to turn your own calendars into cheaply printed looking ones right? So read the items below and learn from these mistakes. It is better to learn about these mistakes for calendars now, rather than discover all your problems after when it is too late already.
1. Using low quality graphics/photographs – Most amateur designers think that any old image they get is already ready for their 2012 calendars. They think that an image from the Internet, or a clip-art from their library will be comparable to other similar calendars of the same level. The trouble is, in many cases, these images are not good enough for printable calendars. Images for calendar printing need to be at least at 300dpi resolution or higher to pass and many amateur designers do not understand this.
Never fall as well to that assumption that all images are ready for your wall calendars. Only high resolution images must be used in printing. This means that you must always source your materials from high resolution image scans or actual digital document drafts with the highest resolutions possible.
2. Using common or regular fonts – Another common mistake that amateurs make for their desk calendars is their use of common or regular fonts from their design applications. While certainly it is okay to do this, you will not get good distinct calendar templates fit for an original work if you go for this strategy. Believe me, it is better to make the effort in getting a new font style, or having your own fonts created so that your calendars have their own original look.
3. Using blank backgrounds – Many amateurs ignore the background of their calendars. They think that calendar printing is only focus on the date and the images. However, the background can have a big influence on how the overall calendar appears. So do not just leave it in plain white. Use a more stylish textured background or color gradient backgrounds. This gives a sleeker dynamic look that makes calendars more modern and of course appealing to readers.
4. Lacking in refinements/enhancements – It is also a common mistake done by amateur designers to just leave out refinements and enhancements. They just plop up the picture in its area, and then add that table near it and they think the calendar is done. This should not be the case. A truly professional calendar has plenty of refinements.
This includes enhancements in the images, additional textures and formatting in the text as well as additional lighting and color splashes for a more natural and complete design. Always review and polish up your own work to make sure to avoid making your calendar boring and avoid this gross mistake.
5. Using the wrong template – Finally, one big mistake that you surely must avoid is getting the wrong kind of calendar template. There are many types of calendars. From wall calendars, desk calendars, pocket calendars and the like, it is important that you actually choose the most ideal type of calendar that will achieve your goals. There will be no turning back once you initiate the order of course, so make sure that you are using the right and most ideal template for your style of calendar printing.
Good! Now remember all of this. Make sure you are always thinking about these mistakes as you go through the calendar design and printing process. You should now be a little wiser and a little bit better with your calendars because of this.
