A: Yes. The Internal Revenue Service says you can't e-file an amended income-tax return.
Here is some background on how to make amends: Suppose you discover a mistake on a previously filed return. For example, you forgot to claim some important deductions or credits, or perhaps you neglected to report some taxable income.
To fix it, go to the IRS website (www.irs.gov) and look for Form 1040X (Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return). This will let you fix something on a previously filed Form 1040, Form 1040A, Form 1040EZ, Form 1040NR or Form 1040NR-EZ.
