FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Medford, Oregon, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) March 28, 2011 -- With jobs scarce and the American populous making a trek back to the colleges and universities, help is needed to weed-through the numerous education programs out there. The choices are many and the curriculum more varied and complex than ever — for those looking to return to school it can be a daunting task.

The trend toward online education is growing each year. Many adults seeking degrees are busy working to earn their living; it's now acceptable to obtain a degree online through some fantastic universities and colleges. The courses at these institutions have gained a tremendous amount of respect over the last few years. Most universities and community colleges offer both standard and online curriculum course of exceptional quality.

For those considering whether the return to college is a prudent choice, it is worth noting the following. The U.S. Census Bureau data shows significant benefits of a college education in the United States further strengthens the case for obtaining a higher level education degree. According to 2004 U.S. Census Bureau figures, workers 18 and over holding bachelor's degrees earn an average of $51,206 a year, while those with only a high school diploma earn $27,915, while those without even a high school diploma earn only $18,734. For individuals holding an advanced degree an average salary of $74,602 is typical.
For those on limited budgets, there are even free online courses out there from such prestigious institutions as Massachusetts Institutes of Technology, Yale, Columbia and UC Berkeley. These courses include, but are not limited to humanities, business courses, technology curriculum and more.

Many colleges have established You Tube presences where the courses can all be viewed; this is now commonly referred to as YouTubeU. While these courses don't typically offer official credits, the knowledge imparted there is highly credible and valuable to continuing education. Many employers might even acknowledge these courses as needed curriculum for certain job classifications.
Thanks to the Internet, advances in web video and online learning institutions, a new organization has emerged. The OpenCouseWare Consortium is a one-stop internet location where higher education learning is actually free. Their website details the project as the following: "The OpenCourseWare Consortium is a worldwide community of hundreds of universities and associated organizations committed to advancing open courseware and its impact on global education."

Even president Obama has reportedly expressed his approval and desire to expand free online courses and online learning in general. According to an Inside Higher Education report, the president's administration is in the process of designing a program to help pay community colleges to establish free online courses.
Whether for standard attended learning programs, distance learning or for free higher education programs, the website Directory Review features a comprehensive list of reviews for over 120 top colleges and universities in the United States specifically designed to assist higher education seeker in selecting the college or university that most fits their needs.
