FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
District of Columbia, District of Columbia, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) May 28, 2011 -- This Memorial Day at 11a.m., Branson Mayor Raeanne Presley, Voices Of Glory finalists from NBC-TV’s America’s Got Talent, veterans from American Legion Post 220 and commands representing all military branches will gather to honor American service members of past and ongoing US wars. The event will take place at Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery located at 1638 E. Highway 76 in Branson, MO.

The 45 minute ceremony is slated to feature VOG singing the US National Anthem and God Bless America; Ralph Sellmeyer veteran of the Korean War and WWII to perform a reading of the notable WWI poem, “In Flanders Fields;” the placement of wreaths; honor guard salute; and other activities to honor veterans, said Rich Peters, AL Post 220 Coordinator for Memorial Day.

100-175 people are expected, Peters said. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs. In the event of rain, the event will be relocated to Post 220 Bingo Hall, 280 State Highway T.

Commemoration of Memorial Day is of paramount importance, Peters said.

“Memorial Day is to honor those who have diligently served the United States of America and the American people to preserve democracy and our way of life,” Peters said. ”It’s up to us to tell our children and grandchildren of the sacrifices of our forbearers to preserve our freedom.

“To have young people like Voices Of Glory involved, singing from the heart - especially professional singers like these - is especially good. It is medicine for the heart.” Peters said.

“Coming from a military family and as Americans, we are indebted to veterans for their sacrifice,” Michael Cole II of VOG said. “Our uncles Gerard Cole and Christian Cole who is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, both served in the US military,” Cole added.

“We respect the importance of military service, Memorial Day and honoring those who have given so much to America,” Nadia Cole of VOG said.

“Veterans gave so much for our freedoms as Americans. Giving back in some way is what we all should do,” said VOG member Avery Cole.

Veteran appreciation is something VOG does well, said Yvette Rodriguez Veterans Affairs Hudson Valley Health Care System Voluntary Service Program Manager.

It was wonderful how “(Voices Of Glory) expressed their gratitude to the veterans for their sacrifice they had made defending the nation," Rodriguez said after a recent performance and VA hospital visit.

Many have said that the ongoing impact of the acclaimed Cole family siblings - Nadia, 11, Avery 15, and Michael, 18 – within the music industry is exceedingly notable because of the strength of the group’s spirit-filled, self-titled CD, and overall professionalism.

Though the trio continues their meteoric ascent, the catalyst for their journey was initially less than stellar.

In July 2005 on her way home from class to achieve an additional advance educational degree, the group’s mother, Felicia Cole was hit head-on by a drunk driver and fell into an 8-month coma. At the suggestion of VOG’s father Michael Cole, the children sang at their mother’s bedside in the hopes of healing.

After their mother’s awakening, the talented trio decided to use music as a means of encouraging and healing others worldwide.
