Middleborough -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Nov 22, 2010 -- Plymouth: The 40 foot flag that has hung over Water Street during many America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration (AHTC) http://www.facebook.com/usathanksgiving parades is now making its way overseas to Afghanistan. When the AHTC Executive Director, Olly deMacedo was informed that the Air Force performing group Tops in Blue’s next gig after the parade was on Christmas day in Afghanistan, he wanted to show them that Plymouth, Massachusetts supported them wholeheartedly. He decided to donate his own personal flag that he has flown proudly during each celebration weekend as a gift to our brave men and women still serving overseas. Tops In Blue happily agreed to present the flag on behalf of deMacedo’s organization and the town of Plymouth. Soon after the parade was through, the Plymouth Fire Department came and helped take down the flag. A fire fighter gently lowered the flag from above to deMacedo and many members of Tops in Blue. They respectfully folded the flag and took it with them on their 8,000 mile journey. Tops in Blue is comprised of active members of the U.S. Air Force and has been a staple of the AHTC for several years. This year, they performed at the celebration’s free friday night concert and at the parade opening ceremonies.
