American Centrist Party of North Carolina supports NC Electoral Freedom Act of 2011

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 2, 2009 -- Greenville, NC, USA (Free-Press-Release.com) November 2, 2008—The American Centrist Party of North Carolina is proud to announce it support for the Electoral Freedom Act of 2011. This proposed bill will increase the choice of representation for all of North Carolina’s citizens. This bill will reduce the amount of signatures required for new political parties and unaffiliated candidates to achieve recognition and ballot access.

Currently the amount of signatures to become a recognized political party or run as an unaffiliated candidate is 2 percent of the amount of voters in the last Presidential election or currently around 85,000. The Electoral Freedom Act of 2011 will change the amount of signatures for political party recognition to 10,000 and for unaffiliated candidates to 5,000. This bill will also change the amount of signatures required for district and municipal offices as well. Write in Candidates will no longer need to collect signatures but state their intention to run and have their votes counted.
