An Award-Winning Christian Singer/Songwriter Set to Appear in Baltimore

Energy is the one word that describes singer, songwriter Carmen Calhoun. For most of her life, she recalls spreading joy through her music. “Everywhere I went, I would sing and I noticed people were impacted, changed and that made me feel good,” said Calhoun - a 43-year old from Fredrick, Maryland who started her singing career in church. Yet, her music has taken her everywhere. Calhoun has been active in church and school choirs, glee clubs; she has traveled many places and even performed on international cruises. “The only place that my music has yet to take me is Australia, and I am sure that will happen soon,” laughs Calhoun.

About 12 years ago, Calhoun started to write her own music and describes her work as “intimate songs about life.” She describes her latest single, The Gift, as an introductory song to share with people about how loving and kind God is to us all. “People have an image of an angry God, but I want people to know that God loves us the most and love should be the first word that comes to mind when we have thoughts of Him,” explained Calhoun.

To increase her exposure, she has added private events such as anniversary celebrations, showers and even book signings to her calendar. Calhoun finds that she enjoys unique events and even one-on-one performances. “Music is language, and I am being used by God to share his message through song. I love it,” said Calhoun whose signature program - Sofa Serenades which combines intimacy and inspiration through song in the comfort of one’s office, home or retreat location – has been widely received by her fans.

Calhoun’s next appearance is scheduled the evening of November 11th at the Diva by Cindy Salon in Pikesville, Maryland located 7 Hooks Lane where Dr. A’ndrea Wilson - a Georgia-based Christian author - is hosting a book release party for her new Christian fiction book, Wife 101. On December 10th , Calhoun is scheduled to promote her book, Dare 2 Be, and minister through song at the Christian Writer’s Literary Festival sponsored by Christian Authors on Tour (CAOT). This free event will take place at the Central Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland located 400 Cathedral Street from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Christian Writer’s Literary Festival will feature books by local and national Christian authors.
