Finding good resources online about how to ‘fish’ from a shoreline is very difficult. It seems like anyone who is serious enough about fishing to write about their fishing tips all have boats, fish detectors and large arsenal of rods, reels and fishing tackle. As a beginner angler, I had none of those things and felt intimidated and embarrassed to go fishing thinking that I was going to be surrounded by professionals judging my fishing rig and cast distance. I was also worried that I would actually catch something and that I would end up butchering my catch just to remove the hook.

So many people remember fishing as a child with their dad or mom and those are usually fun memories. I hope my kids continue to enjoy going fishing with me and pass this passion onto their kids. Both my kids are under the age of 6 and can cast pretty darn good. They are actually my inspiration to continue to learn more about fishing styles and techniques and to share those with others who wish to share this great past time with their young ones. I still remember what my daughter said to me after the first time I took her fishing: “Daddy, why aren’t you smart enough to catch a fish?” Well, time has gone by and I have gotten smarter and I want to share what I have learned with you.
