Announcing: Collaboration Between Cheltenham Festivals, EDF Energy and Science.TV

Cheltenham, UK, March 17, 2010 -- Cheltenham Festivals is pleased to announce the launch of a project, sponsored by British Energy – part of EDF Energy, with science.TV to provide access to programme content from its renowned The Times Cheltenham Science Festival.
This programme allows science.TV to develop innovative multimedia educational science and engineering resources for schools utilising leading experts in their field. These include Dr Alice Roberts, Professor Mark Lythgoe, Sir Jonathon Porritt and others from the 2009 Festival with many more planned to be produced at the 2010 Festival which will be held from 9-13 June.
Donna Renney, CEO of Cheltenham Festivals commented: “We are pleased to be associated with the creation of this new resource which will further our educational outreach activities to engage children with the importance of science and its impact on society”
Dr Andrew Spurr, Managing Director, British Energy - part of EDF Energy said: “We are delighted to continue our support for the Cheltenham Science Festival. This innovative project will allow many more people to benefit from the excellent education programme provided by the festival.”

The Times Cheltenham Science Festival

The Times Cheltenham Science Festival is a five-day celebration of science, engineering and the arts and is produced by Cheltenham Festivals. A rare opportunity for the public to come face-to-face with around 300 of the world’s leading scientists and thinkers, the festival annually sells in excess of 23,000 tickets whilst the free interactive Discover Zone attracts over 10,000 visitors. The five day festival promises a mix of serious debate, live experiments and surprising discoveries all based at Cheltenham Town Hall.
