Announcing the launch of the Green Screening project - an online music video showcase

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 24, 2010 -- A MUSIC VIDEO SERIES CREATED FROM A WEEKLONG STUDIO TAKEOVER WHERE TODAY’S HOTTEST ARTISTS COLLABORATE ON A NEW WAY TO CREATE CONTENT.

THE GOAL OF THE GREEN SCREENING EVENT is to bring together musicians in town for CMJ or local to Brooklyn and change the way music videos area made – more creative and more rewarding for artists, and more engaging material to entertain fans.

Thirty exciting acts have signed-up to come into Seaside Lounge studios in Park Slope, rented out especially for the event in parallel to the CMJ Music festival October 17-24, to lay down a live track and perform in a space decked-out in full ‘greenscreen’ backdrops so that bespoke visuals can be added in afterwards.

From 11/2/10 our website (http://green-screening.com/) will showcase the videos, being released one per week along with curated extra footage, audio, pictures and interviews. Bands already confirmed include festival and blog favorites Dale Earnhardt JR JR, Millionyoung , Dinowalrus, Soft Black, Ava Luna, Mean Creek, FRIENDS, The Dewars, Howlies, Golden Animals, Lost Boy?, Von Haze, Plates of Cake, Royal Chains, Ivana XL, Caged Animals, Zachary Cale, Rope, Charles Burst, Woodsy Pride, Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers, Nerds, Tanya Morgan, Rope, 1,2,3, Sea Ghost.

Director Drew Norton has been working with indie labels such as Rough Trade and Barsuk to create music videos for up-and-coming acts that bring to life the sound, represent the band’s brand and also get traction and exposure online. A recent video for Phantogram was featured on Pitchfork, and one for Say Hi led to the song being featured in a commercial. His reel is at http://vimeo.com/user628221 Drew wanted to work collaboratively with artists and create a faster-turnaround production model and to get the Green Screening project off the ground has even managed to raise thousands of dollars via crowd-funding site Kickstarter (http://kck.st/94Jdvd). The funny thing is that he is colorblind and therefore uniquely attuned to visualize the process of replacing the green backdrops with new visuals!
