Annual New York Call Crusade Returns to Long Island's Eisenhower Park Aug. 28

Long Island, New York, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) August 24, 2010 -- Aug. 23, 2010 – East Meadow (Long Island), N.Y. – For the seventh consecutive year, thousands of Christians from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are expected on Aug. 28 to converge on Eisenhower Park in East Meadow for The New York Call. The annual event featuring ministry, music and fun for the entire family will be held from noon to 8 p.m. – rain or shine – on the park grounds near the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre.

Led by Grammy Award-winning gospel singer and Pastor Donnie McClurkin and a coalition of clergy, churches and ministries from different backgrounds, The New York Call began in 2004 to remove impediments, such as race, ethnicity, language and denomination, that have caused division within the Christian community and build lasting unity, harmony and fellowship.

“There really is no black church, white church, Korean church, Hispanic church or anything else that makes us divided or exclusive,” declares Pastor McClurkin, Senior Pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, N.Y., on Long Island’s South Shore. “We are to be one. That means there should be no divisions or -isms or schisms found in the body of Christ. It is time to tear down walls that divide us and build bridges to unite us so that we can reach the lost outside of us. We want to show the world a unified body of Christ through our relationship with God and with each other, which is at the core of this evangelistic mission.”

Eisenhower Park is at Merrick and Stewart avenues in East Meadow. (Take Exit M3 of the Meadowbrook Parkway toward Stewart Avenue.) All are invited. Admission and parking are free.

At noon, pavilions will dot the park landscape, with exhibitors handing out free samples and offering valuable information about careers, education, health and wellness. Free health screenings will be provided, and the kids will be treated to a slew of interactive games, sports and other activities.

Then at 3 p.m., attendees are invited to gather on the grass in front of the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre stage and listen to inspirational words from several dynamic speakers. They include Bishop Eric D. Garnes, Senior Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Pastor Jimmy Jack, Senior Pastor of Freedom Chapel International Worship Center in Amityville and founder of Long Island Teen Challenge; Bishop George C. Searight, Founder and Senior Pastor of Abundant Life Family Worship Church in New Brunswick, N.J.; and our very own Pastor Donnie McClurkin.
