July 10, 2010

It is the word 'Green', not the color that has become a household buzz. So how can we tell the flash from the light? Chad Statz from CMS explains the reality of building and remodeling Green.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 10, 2010 --

Green was once just a lonely color, somewhere between Blue and Yellow. No more. Green has been attached to everything from travel to toilets. Why? Well, with virtually every shift in buying habits comes a shift in marketing patterns. There are many levels of consumer interest in environmentally responsible products and services. But what drives the consumer shift and buying habits? Many are committed to purchasing products that are Green certified when available, while others purchase if the perceived value enhances their perceived image. Green, in the Building sense is simple to quantify. It is a 'comprehensive approach to the design, land use, construction, and long-term operation of a home'. Way too simple right. The reality is that design, planning and choices make the absolute biggest difference in the efficiency and performance of a building. While renewables can add to energy independence, it's not the solar panels and wind turbines....it is choices like lighting, appliances, and research that create an impact. We can design and build OR remodel a home the superior efficiency without fancy renewable hardware. That is Green. We use local products and installation when possible, minimize site impact, address indoor air quality, comfort, durability. This is Green. So....begin with the design and planning, speak with experienced professionals in Green building, and apply the 'cheap and easy'.
