April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month: Miami Hypnotic Center launches a month long campaign to bring attention to this cause

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 4, 2010 -- Miami, FL – April 4th, 2010 – Throughout the month of April, Miami Hypnotic Center in an effort to kick off awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention Month is offering discounted sessions, and will be sponsoring 1 day of totally free sessions to be held on Sunday, April 11th. These 1 hour sessions will be offered to help adults overcome the long-term consequences of childhood abuse and neglect from their past.

Being abused as a child leaves a legacy of mixed and harmful emotions. It's difficult to trust others and really be open. There are feelings of guilt and fear. Some forms of abuse make it impossible to benefit from fulfilling and enjoyable physical relationships. Hypnosis helps to start the cycle of breaking through those hurtful, scarring memories of abuse, and understand the trauma experienced as a child. The benefits are enjoyment of fulfilling relationships with friends, partners and colleagues, gaining acceptance, a new, positive mindset and the first step in getting life back on track.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month and throughout the year, Miami Hypnotic Center encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making Miami Dade County a better place for families. By ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening families and communities.

Research shows that five important factors are present in healthy families. Promoting these factors is among the most effective ways to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. They are:

Nurturing and attachment
Knowledge of parenting and of child and youth development
Parental resilience
Social connections
Concrete supports for parents

"April is a time to celebrate the important role that communities play in protecting children," said Marlene Pardo, director of Miami Hypnotic Center. "Everyone's participation is critical. Focusing on ways to promote the five protective factors, in every interaction with families, is the best thing our community can do to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect."

In support of these efforts, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Children's Bureau, Office on Child Abuse and Neglect, its Child Welfare Information Gateway, and the FRIENDS National Resource Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention have created Strengthening Families and Communities: 2010 Resource Guide.
