ARB Verifies Rypos DPF/ULETRU for Carrier and ThermoKing MY2003 or Newer TRUs

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 15, 2011 -- The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has verified the Rypos DPF/ULETRU CARB Level 3+ Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) for use on Carrier and ThermoKing transportation refrigeration units (TRU) using 2003 and newer model year engines.

The Rypos DPF/ULETRU system reduces particulate matter by 85 percent in TRU applications. The Rypos DPF/ULETRU can now be used to comply with ARB’s Ultra-Low-Emission TRU (ULETRU) In-Use Performance Standard. The Rypos DPF/ULETRU system was developed to meet the emerging state and federal regulations for TRU diesel emissions. The DPF/ULETRU provides TRU owners with the lowest total cost for CARB TRU ATCM compliance. The active, electronically regenerating diesel exhaust filter system is a modular design that replaces the muffler and operates online without engine shutdown. Minimal maintenance is required. The Rypos DPF/ULETRU system mounts easily within the TRU frame and requires only 12 volts dc power. The system is warrantied for four years or 2,600 hours. According to the ARB announcement, TRUs are refrigeration systems powered by diesel internal combustion engines designed to control the environment of temperature-sensitive products that are transported in trucks, trailers, shipping containers, and railcars. These units operate at distribution centers, grocery stores, and other facilities, which are often in close proximity to residential neighborhoods. The emissions from TRUs pose a potential threat to both public health and the environment.
