"Everyone is always asking about the best times to advertise on the web," says Alan Mendelson, publisher of www.AlanBestBuys.com "and we have found over the last several years that website visitors during the daytime hours are more likely to click on our ads."
Mendelson reports that his website's traffic is greatest on Sundays following the morning broadcast of The Best Buys TV Show, and on Mondays when many TV show viewers check the website from their office and work computers.
"Our web analytics and our advertising statistics show that most ads are clicked on during the daytime and this makes sense to us because of our large web audience following our TV show and when our TV viewers are at work on Mondays. But now we have new information that reinforces this belief," said Mendelson. "We recently ran a late afternoon Best Buys TV Show on a Saturday afternoon from 530-PM to 6-PM, and while this late Saturday afternoon TV show had a much bigger TV audience than our 8-AM Sunday morning TV show, and we had a much bigger web audience following this Saturday afternoon show, our click-through rate and the number of clicks on our website ads actually went down following the Saturday afternoon TV show."
Mendelson is telling his clients that Sunday day time web visitors are probably more available for clicking on ads and perhaps it is because they have more time to click on ads than TV viewers and web visitors in the evening who have other activities.
The Best Buys TV Show is a weekly Sunday morning TV program on KCOP Channel 13 in Los Angeles but several times a year will run on KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon. This paid infomercial program features news about small and midsized retail stores, discounters, outlets and liquidators and service companies in the Southern California market. It is produced by Axis Media in Agoura Hills. Videos from the TV show as well as additional information is available on www.AlanBestBuys.com which also features pay per click advertising.
