FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) December 14, 2011 -- Sculptures and artworks as Holiday gifts, although not quite as common, are enjoying a growing popularity. Many investors see artworks as an ideal investment particularly in times of economic uncertainty.
Entertainment, toys and clothing are the perennial favorite among the annual Holiday gifts. Artworks can increasingly be found among the gifts this year as well as sculptures and installations.
Economic crisis noticeable during the Holiday shopping

But art is often not considered affordable. Not only the buyers feel the impact of the crisis as Claudia Deutsch of Los Angeles gallery Artspace Warehouse explains, "Before the economic crisis began a lot of people waited for the income and interest distributions in January. Therefore the January sales were much better than the December sales. But the timing of art purchases has changed since the crisis."
Art as a permanent investment
The trend is now somewhat moving in the direction of "art as a Holiday gift." Various buyers see the sculptures and paintings as a permanent investment. "I've also noticed that many parents now already give their teenagers art gifts. I think that this is a great introduction to art and beautiful objects of lasting values" said gallery director Mona Telega.

Business starts after the Holidays

Art purchases are done mostly outside of the Holiday bustle, as stress and art do not fit together easily. Subsequently the real business begins after the Holidays, "in peace, after the children received their gifts, adults give artworks to each other or acquire something together," said Claudia Deutsch.
Exchange is still possible
To give artworks as gifts is often tricky. The right gift for the individual taste in art is not always found. Therefore, many dealers and gallery owners offer an exchange or return option. "Especially if someone says he needs it as a gift, we always offer that if it does not fit, he can either return or exchange it," said Claudia Deutsch of Artspace Warehouse.
