Ten years on, It may seem like just another picture of the World Trade Centre, a part of New York’s history that is marked with sombre recollection. However, when looking closer, this image has been created using the handwritten names of the victims that died within the Twin Towers, the passengers on United Airlines Flight 93, American Airlines Flight 77 and from within the Pentagon.
Annemarie Wright, 32, created the picture to commemorate those who died in the terrorist attack and contains over 2700 names.

http://www.annemarie-wright.com An expanse of brick and steel, some 1,368 feet tall, weighing 500,000 tons, with 50,000 employees and even 60 deaths during construction, the Twin Towers were an awesome force. This picture has been created to mark the 10th anniversary of the destruction and commemorates each of the individuals who lost their lives.
Wright received criticism in regards to her last piece of work, depicting Tony Blair using the names of fallen soldiers from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and this piece is likely to prove no exception. However, Wright has defended her position:
“I decided to do this piece because the events of September 11th are now and will always be such a major part of history. I am dedicating this work to Kevin Cosgrove, who died whilst making a call to the emergency services. The whole world stood still when they heard that call”.
The picture that was displayed in London’s Woolff Gallery, took a painstaking forty hours to complete and has just been acquired by an anonymous buyer.
Annemarie Wright graduated from The University of Wolverhampton in 2002 with a First class degree in Fine Art and Printmaking.
Since graduating, her work has exhibited worldwide.
