Artist M. Ellen Cocose's Luminosity Exhibition Brings New Landscapes to Gallery KH in Chicago

Gallery KH is pleased to present Luminosity a new collection of ambient mixed media pieces by the artist M. Ellen Cocose. Luminosity opens July 15, 2011 through September 5, 2011. An opening night cocktail reception with the artist is scheduled for Friday, July 15, 5-8PM. All gallery events are free and open to the public.

“We are thrilled to show Chicago artist M. Ellen Cocose’s Luminosity exhibition this summer. Her ethereal landscapes are extremely successful as they deliver an idyllic scene while capturing warmth, harmony and beauty. She has developed a style that is as timeless as it is contemporary. The show promises to be a bright spot in our summer schedule,” states Shannon K. Rather, Assistant Director of Gallery KH.

M. Ellen Cocose studied art in her youth at internationally renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts. She continued her art education at college in Florence Italy, University of Illinois, and Columbia, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

“The core of my work is the use of light and shadow to create movement and mood. I use a limited color palette to emphasize these dynamics, choosing colors that create a soft, warm, tonal quality. My interest is in creating works that are either abstracted or idealized versions of nature. To achieve this, I employ methods of addition and reduction to bring nature to its simplest form,” states the artist.

Cocose’s work is represented in galleries nationwide, and has been exhibited in solo and group shows. Her artwork may be found in corporate and private collections worldwide, including Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, New York City, Calgary, London, Paris, and Seoul.
