As Polar Explorers team reaches the South Pole, a rare interview opportunity

ANTARCTICA – In just more than two weeks, a team with professional guiding company Polar Explorers will reach the South Pole. They will do so almost exactly 100 years after a team led by Robert Falcon Scott, the first British explorer to ever reach the pole.

Scott was beaten to be pole by a Norwegian team led by Roald Amundsen, and perished with his team on the return, but remains a hero to explorers worldwide. The nearby Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station is named for both explorers.

The team will reach the pole after 60 days of travel through some of the most extreme conditions on planet Earth. Though the Antarctic summer provides constant sunlight, temperatures are very rarely above zero degrees Fahrenheit and winds can create complete whiteouts. The team’s journey has been chronicled online, and members will be available to satellite phone interviews with prior notice.
