Currently residing in Japan, adding credibility to his showmanship and experience, Ashton Moore carries his passion for music with him. Performing to audiences around the globe is a privilege that he does not take lightly. He remembers his foundation. Born and raised in Detroit, by a musically inclined family, Ashton gained a healthy respect for traditional musicianship. He expanded his love of music through violin, piano and percussion, while delighting in the discovery of new musical paths.

He has truly honed vocal talent in many genres, but resonates most as a Jazz and R&B vocalist. His high school vocal quartet, Simply Complex, performed at the Fox Theater as part of the “Evening of Fine Arts Showcase.” At the end of his senior year in High School, Ashton was offered a full scholarship for Vocal Performance in the Jazz Studies Program at Michigan State University (2001).

While attending the prestigious institution of Michigan State University, Ashton became a studied student of his craft. He earned awards and opportunities that many strive for. These include: a Full Assistantship for Graduate Studies at Michigan State University (2006), Michigan State University Black Alumni Scholarship Recipient (2007), ‘Excellence In Diversity’ Award for The Right Thing recording from M.S.U Office of Inclusion (2008).

All the while, he was still gaining experience as a performer in professional venues and competitions. His performances include: Soloist with MSU Big Band 1 (2001-2007), Featured soloist with Jon Hendricks at The Wharton Center at MSU (2003), Guest Soloist at the Detroit Symphony Hall with Rodney Whitaker, Cyrus Chestnut, and Antonio Hart (2004), Performed two concerts of Marvin Gaye’s What’s Goin’ On Suite at Dizzy’s Coca Cola Club in Frederick Rose Hall (2005)Featured soloist for the Barack Obama Presidential campaign rally at Michigan State University (2008), Vocalist with the Christian McBride Big Band (2008), Thelonious Monk Institute Vocals Competition (2010), and recently performed at both the Taichung Jazz Festival in 2010, and the Daegu Jazz Festival in 2011.
