"Hiring an Executive Director has been three years in the making, and with the generous assistance from two of our long-standing partners, the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust and the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, we were able to make this happen" added Killmer.

“We recognize that times have changed,” continued Killmer. “Our volunteers have more demands on their time than ever before and utilizing volunteers to totally manage a large non-profit, as we have done for the past 50 years, was simply no longer feasible.

“We believe that Aimee’s 10 years of experience in non-profit management will be a major asset to Assistance League,” continued Killmer. “The consistency of having a full time Executive Director will allow us to generate additional revenue, expand our programs and build stronger community relationships,” said Killmer.

"Assistance League of Phoenix is an exceptional organization with remarkably dedicated volunteer members," said Aimee Runyon, the new Executive Director for Assistance League of Phoenix. "I am honored to be a part of this team and to assist in making an impact on the lives of children in need throughout our community through the programs that we provide."

Runyon previously served as the Executive Director of Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank in Chandler.

Assistance League of Phoenix has approximately 250 members who volunteer their time to support and implement the organization’s programs including: Operation School Bell®, which provides basic clothing to elementary school children; LEARN literacy program, which provides books and dictionaries to children; WEE Help, which provides layettes to newborns of families in need; Assistance League College Scholarships which help students to complete degrees; and HUGS, which provides stuffed bears to traumatized children and accident victims.
