Atlanta natives – Kevin Young, Darian Franklin, and Javiere Boswell, collectively known as the Phenoms progressively aim to join the ranks of Atlanta’s leading musical pioneers and trailblazers.
Creative powers in their own right, the Phenoms burst unto the scene as a trio in early 2007 as a production and songwriting entity after spending years developing their style and sound since their teenage years.
“We came up with the name while in college,” says Young, who attended the University of West Georgia with Franklin while Boswell pursued his higher education at the Art Institute of Atlanta.
Scoring a major song and music video placement with “Roger That” featuring Lil Wayne, Nicki Manaj, and Tyga from the Hip-hop collective Young Money’s debut album ‘We Are Young Money’ released December 21, 2009. The album peaked at number nine on Billboard’s Top 200 Album chart, making the Phenoms creative talents to watch.
“On the production side Organized Noise was always an inspiration,” says Boswell when asked about the group’s musical influences.
“As artists we listen to everyone from Outkast, Nirvana, Coldplay, and other local acts, we are inspired by everything musically,” says Franklin.
Preparing for the release ‘Miscellaneous,’ the debut album by the Phenoms, the group takes the musical helm taking listeners on a journey through the styles and sounds that make their experience a “phenomenal” one.
Working with BluPrint ATL under the management of Shai Storm, the Phenoms continue to secure and go after major musical placements with a song entitled “Incredible” for consideration as a potential licensed song for use by the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Team and the BET’s 2010 Rip the Runway’s theme which airs March 15, 2010.
“The Phenoms bring a new unique sound that I feel will set the next trend. They definitely have the ‘it factor,’ their music has that new sound for what’s hot in today modern pop & urban music,” says Storm, the group’s manager/A&R.
The Phenoms strive to live up to their moniker and with their past and current success the future looks phenomenally bright.
