Attorney Bruce Akerly Joins Cantey Hanger

Akerly, whose practice areas include Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights, Business Litigation and General Litigation, has joined the Cantey Hanger law firm as Counsel, Managing Partner Pollard Rogers announced.

Akerly is a frequent writer and lecturer in the areas of commercial

litigation and procedure, creditors’ rights, collection of debts and judgments and insolvency proceedings. He has represented individuals and businesses in negotiations, settlements, mediations, trials and appeals of various forms of commercial, bankruptcy and business entity disputes, commercial litigation and other contested matters.

He received his B.A. from Southwest Texas State University and graduated, cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1982, when he was admitted to the State Bar. He was a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Lou Robinson, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas, from 1982-1984.


Akerly is a member of the Dallas Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and

Litigation sections, Commercial Law League and American Bankruptcy Institute. He is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in the states of Texas and Wisconsin, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

He was selected a Texas Super Lawyer in 2006 and 2007 by Texas Monthly magazine.
