Audio Engineer Cass Anawaty Attends Master Class at Bruce Swedien's West Viking Studio

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 17, 2010 -- Lake Oswego, OR—October 4, 2010- A group of nine audio engineers from around the world gathered at the private studio of the legendary Bruce Swedien (Duke Ellington, George Benson, Missing Persons, Michael Jackson) for a week of intense instruction on the subjects of acoustics and studio design, microphone engineering and evaluation, stereo recording techniques, and mix engineering. Renowned mastering engineer Bernie Grundman led discussions on the goals, intricacies, and technical considerations of the mastering process.

According to Cass, “When you work in the studio with Bruce, you actually feel the history of recording, and you quickly learn to trust your instincts and reject compromise. For those of us who aren’t happy with the current state of audio production and fidelity, it’s an opportunity to get back to the very basics of capturing sound with the man who pioneered many of those techniques—and they’re just as valid today as they were over 50 years ago.”

Technical presentations were also conducted by Art Noxon (Acoustic Sciences Corp), John Jennings (Royer Labs), and Martin Kantola, developer of the “Swedien” signature model microphone (nu47.com).

Cass Anawaty is a member of the Audio Engineering Society a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (The Grammys). He is the owner and Chief Engineer of Sunbreak Music, where he works in audio mastering, recording and mix engineering, and composition and production.
