The search for "The Best Choir in America" was supported by enthusiastic fans, dedicated choir members, and the community at large. With over 10,000 in attendance, the atmosphere in the arena was full of spiritual excitement, heightened by the presence of celebrity guests in attendance, including Stevie Wonder, Host Donald Lawrence,Co-Host Lisa Kimmey-Winans, and Gospel award winning judges Marvin Sapp and Trinitee 5:7.

Ending the first half of the performance, the Valley Crossroads Chorale, led by Augusta native Makeda Tene', took the audience by surprise by performing an a cappella spiritual: "Every Time I Feel The Spirit". Marvin Sapp, one of the most beloved voices in modern gospel,commented that Ms. Tene' "reminded me of a young Kathleen Battle singing in the style of Porgy and Bess...that's real church right there". Adrian Anderson from the Platinum selling female gospel group, Trinitee 5:7, said that the performance was "cultured and elegant..I felt like I was watching praise and worship on Broadway". Chanelle Hayes, also of the same group,was most impressed by the vocal physicality of the piece. "That last note that she (Makeda) hit struck me right here... It was amazing", she said.
