Australia and Montenegro give Taiwan visa free treatment

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 13, 2011 -- Two more countries namely Australia and Montenegro will give Taiwan a visa-free treatment, according to President Ma Ying-jeou.

President Ma Ying-jeou, speaking at the foreign ministry on Friday, March 11, 2011, said that Taiwan has already negotiated with the two countries, Australia and Montenegro, on the issue of giving Taiwan a visa-free treatment, though the date for the new agreement to take effect has not yet been finalize.

According to President Ying-jeou, Taiwan will now soon achieve its goal of visa-free entry to 100 countries. Including these two recently added countries, Australia and Montenegro, 99 countries have already agreed to visa-free privileges for Taiwan.

As reported by President Ma, Australia will permit holders of Taiwanese passports to apply for the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) instead of applying for an Australia visiting visa. So any Taiwanese passport holders are not required anymore to get any Australian visa form or get any application for Australia visa. No documentation is added to the holder's passport when an ETA Australia is issued, unlike ordinary visas. All other Australian visa requirements are forgone when Taiwanese passport holders are issued with this ETA.
 

According also to President Ma Ying-jeou, aside from Australia allowing Taiwan to apply for the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) when going to Australia, Montenegro is also giving Taiwan a visa-free entry to the aforementioned country.

This process of applying for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is also the same treatment given by Australia to other developed countries.

President Ma also added that though the agreement between Australia and Montenegro has been finalized, the timeframe for the implementation for the visa-free treatment has yet to be finalized.

This visa-free treatment, according to President Ma, is proof of Taiwan's growing status in the international community.
