(Free-Press-Release.com) November 10, 2010 -- Australia November 10, 2010 – Global business consultancy firm, KPMG states that the boom that Australia is experiencing right now has given way to low unemployment and a high demand for skilled workers form other countries to be able to fill the shortage. This is something that is seen to likely increase in the future.

The Skilled Migration Survey 2010 reported that due to the high demand for skilled employees, employers are being forced to increase their skilled migration intake.

The said report stated that in some Australian States such as Queensland and South Australia are still under skills shortages and there have been opinions that to solve the said problem, they should employ skilled workers under Australia’s 457 which grants temporary employer-sponsored visa to skilled workers. It was said that Western Australia has been using the said program for some time and has gained by bringing in skilled workers under the Australian skilled migration programs.

There were an 85 percent of employers who were surveyed that stated that the current global financial crisis doesn’t have any impact on their business. They added that there are a 50 percent of businesses that have been suffering from skill shortages.

60 percent of the said surveyed employers stated that they have maintained their skilled migration intake while only 14 percent expressed that they have made some reductions in their intake of skilled migrants in their business.

There were also an 80 percent of employers found through the poll which stated their concern regarding Australia’s aging work force. They stated their belief that this might possibly affect their business in the coming five years. A total of 66 percent feel that the Australian Government should work on improving its skilled migration program to be able to help in boosting the working age population.

It is undeniable that Australia has become the most popular destination of skilled migrants from different parts of the world. As an addition to the employer-sponsored visas like the 457 visa, there has also been a points-based immigration scheme that is allowing people with skills to apply for a permanent residence visa in Australia minus the need for an employer.
