Moonstone Arts Center, 110 South 13th Street, Philadelphia, is featuring Works on Paper in Black & White on the theme of MUSIC AND DANCE by Austrian-American artist Sibylle-Maria PFAFFENBICHLER.
The Opening is Wednesday, April 7, 5-7 pm, the exhibition will run through April 27th, 2010.
Images of musicians like Thelonius Monk, Hawkins and Billie Holiday alternate with couples dancing the Boogie-Woogie or Rock n'Roll in charcoal, gouache and acrylic. Lithographic and drypoint pieces are also represented.
The artist is also showing 2 scrolls of a modern dancer performing in a live model workshop at the historic Plastic Club who is continuously moving in slow motion for 20 minutes at a time. One of the scrolls is an impressive 26 feet long showing a flow of body in motion. Each pose is drawn in a different color pencil to enhance the change.
Moonstone Arts Center has expanded its programs of authors and poets to music, theater, comedy, film and art exhibitions. The center has grown out of Robin's Bookstore, a Philadelphia "institution" that has spanned 3 generations of family proprietors.
