Author Holly LaMora Announces Release of YA Science Fiction Thriller, Finding Badger

A metaphorical tale of transformation, Finding Badger tells the story of Hayes MacGruder, an aimless peace officer on a mission to rescue two teenagers, Rory and Chancy, from a war-torn planet in 2330.

When Hayes and his partner Murphy find themselves searching for Hayes’ daughter from his past life, Hayes just wants to finish the mission and leave the polluted, rat-infested planet and its bands of teenage cannibals behind. He realizes that his fateful meeting with her — as well as other members of his “spirit cluster”— is the universe giving him yet another chance to rewrite his story by making the right decisions in his life. Little does he comprehend that the fate of the universe may very well depend on the choices he made centuries ago, in addition to the choices he makes now.

As the story progresses, Hayes and company must find a diamond Hayes supposedly stole in another life and return it to its rightful place. The message of the novel, which centers on the implications of living an inauthentic and unprincipled life, is communicated through an old family diary belonging to a senator’s daughter, who lived on Earth in 2006. Hayes and his daughter, along with the other teens who join them on their journey, learn about the fragility of our planet and the importance of making good choices as they attempt to restore the universal order by bringing the diamond back to the place it belongs.

Finding Badger presents readers with an intriguing science fiction adventure that contains an important message about our future here on Earth. The novel explores the metaphorical and philosophical implications of our decisions as a society, especially those regarding the environment, war and social consciousness. Both teens and adults will enjoy this well-written novel, which contains fresh, interesting characters and some important lessons about the future of the planet we inhabit.

Born in San Diego, California, Holly LaMora has a B.A. in economics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has worked in a variety of industries, including the military, telecommunications, banking, wholesale, and retail. After thirty-two years in Texas, she returned to where it all started for her – California. She is currently working on two books: an adult-themed fantasy with socio-political overtones and a time travel book, in which the characters are sent back to the age of the dinosaurs and then returned to the present, with a focus on group dynamics and the problems created by their disappearance.
