Now sitting among some famous former writers such as Elmer Kelton, and current greats such as Cotton Smith, Michael McGarity and Elmore Leonard, just to name a few, western writer Patricia Gott is now a member of the Western Writers of America. "I'm honored to be a part of this talented group of writers," says Gott.” My great, great aunt, Natlee Kenoyer, was past president of WWA and longtime active member as well as a recipient of the coveted Spur Award. She set a high standard for women western writers to aspire to.”
Western Writers of America has been around since the 1950's and promotes "Literature of the West for the World".
Ms. Gott has written two cowgirl western novels, “So You Wanna be a Cowgirl” 2007, and “Cowgirl Days” 2008, and one historic western novel, “The DAYES of Wyoming”, to be released this spring 2010.
So You Wanna be a Cowgirl is a personal narrative. I was a forthish, divorced woman from Maine, running my own business, when I applied for a job at Rimrock Dude Ranch in Wapiti Valley, Wyoming. My horse and I were hired by Glenn Fales, an old-time cowboy and ex-rodeo bronc rider who, with his wife Alice, had owned the ranch for thirty-five years. This is my story.
In Cowgirl Days, the lady wrangler adventures continue in this enjoyable narrative style novel, this time in Montana, training young horses and wild horses at a breeding ranch, and endurance racing. She returns to Cody, Wyoming wrangling at a dude ranch and working on a couple of horse pack trips into the Bridger and Shoshone National Wilderness areas.
The DAYES of Wyoming is an anthology of seven historic novellas featuring horse trainer, Bertha and mountain man, Charlie Daye. The stories take place during the late 1800s to early 1900s in northern Wyoming, from Johnson County, east of the Bighorns, to Yellowstone, west of the Continental Divide.
Patricia Gott is a retired businesswoman and resides in rural Maine. Her life experiences have taken her to four continents and forty-seven states. She was a ranch wrangler and trail guide for four summers in Wyoming, thus her obvious familiarity and love of Wyoming, which is the setting of her western stories. She started riding horseback at the age of eight and has owned, raised, and trained horses since, accounting for her knowledge and experience with horses as detailed in her books.
Her books can be purchased from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or from her web site www.prgottbooks.com
