http://www.arlissadams-author.com Adams says this is the first piece of serious fiction she ever tried to write. The journey began more than sixteen years ago, well before she launched the comical Silver Sisters Mysteries series as Morgan St. James, co-authored with her real life sister Phyllice Bradner. Their first book in the series, “A Corpse in the Soup” was named Best Mystery Audio Book 2007 by USA Book News.
Adams says throughout the sixteen years spent writing and rewriting "Devil's Dance" and "The Devil's Due," the story of a teenage ballerina who became a kidnapping/rape victim, her struggle to survive and the final retribution in the twist ending of the second book, she continued to study, edit, then study and edit again until she learned all the aspects of writing fiction it takes to create an emotional, gripping tale. Adams says she is still learning. “I believe curiosity and the constant desire to continue conquering new challenges keeps you young.” As living proof, she transitioned from attending workshops to giving them, and loves to develop writing programs with techniques that are instantly actionable. Something the attendee can take home and apply right away.
According to her, writing funny mysteries and heart-grabbing romantic suspense are two totally different experiences. She had to mentally become the protagonist Jen Connor while writing many of the scenes in “Devil’s Dance” and “The Devil’s Due.” Often she found tears dripping down to her keyboard as she continued to unfold the story.
Devil’s Dance opens with seventeen year old Jen Connor awakening in a strange bedroom, bound and gagged, trying to focus through a drugged haze. Where is she? She quickly finds out and thus begins the tale of betrayal, treachery and the struggle to survive and conquer her demons. Award-winning author J.D. Webb says, "Be prepared to run the gamut of your emotions. ‘Devil’s Dance’ will break your heart, patch it up, deflate it again and finally make it whole.”
