(Free-Press-Release.com) August 23, 2011 --
With the release this month of the third comical Silver Sisters Mystery, Vanishing Act in Vegas, St. James now has five fiction novels in publication. In addition, Writers’ Tricks of the Trade: 39 Things You Need to Know About the ABCs of Writing Fiction, was also released this month. Add over two hundred published articles related to writing, and that adds up to a very busy 5 years.
In September St. James will become an international speaker presenting a talk to writers in Sydney, Australia. She jokes, “My only challenge is what to do with those extra two minutes in the day. I don’t plan on slowing down any time soon!”
In the late 1990s, St. James and her younger sister Phyllice Bradner, both published writers but not in fiction, created the zany Silver Sisters Mysteries by writing long distance—St. James in California and Bradner in Alaska. Their 50ish identical silver-haired Mae West lookalikes, born on different days, different months, different years and even different decades received unwelcome help from their mother and uncle, 80-year-old former vaudeville magicians Flossie and Sterling Silver. Their cast of characters is reminiscent of their own wacky, fun-loving family and friends.
However, they didn’t know the “tricks of the trade” of writing fiction. After attending extensive conferences and workshops and working with a manuscript evaluator for a year, the book was rewritten, published and named Best Mystery Audio Book of 2007 by USA Book News.
Inspired by her weekly columns in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas editions of www.examiner.com, tips, tricks and techniques for both published and aspiring fiction writers fill the pages of her new book, Writers’ Tricks of the Trade: 39 Things You Need to Know About the ABCs of Writing Fiction. The easy-to-read prose is seasoned with generous helpings of humor. Says St. James, “Believe it or not, during the many, many times I proofed this book, I actually learned from my own work.” Now available in Kindle, eBook and paperback, the book was released just before St. James’ August 26 birthday. In the introduction she calls herself an accidental author, shares experiences along the sometimes bumpy road and claims, “You can teach an old dog new tricks.”
Her books are available at many online booksellers including Amazon US, UK, and CANADA and can be ordered from local booksellers. MORE INFORMATION at www.morganstjames-author.com and read her columns in www.examiner.com, Los Angeles and Las Vegas editions.
