The website claims that these well known mushrooms have long believed to have revitalizing properties and that they have shown to slow down aging. However, in truth a lot of research has been done on this species of mushrooms scientifically, hardly any research is available on the effect of these mushrooms of aging. Comparatively, a much larger data is available on other skin care agents like retinoids or sirtuins. The little available information does claim that shitake mushrooms might secrete a substance known as Lentinan, which is known to stimulate the immune system and also kills some viruses. The results in question include improved elasticity, firmness, reduction in fine lines and younger looking skin. In my own experience on the other hand, I did not feel or see any phenomenal results. Still, this lotion continues to be one of the most popular products in the skin firming category.

Good thing is that it is made from completely natural ingredients and moisturizes the skin quite well. This product does not have any strong fragrances and is also non-greasy, making it a light and good daily moisturizing lotion.
