Developed by the late John Pierrakos, MD, a student of Wilhelm Reich, Pierrakos also initially developed Bioenergetics with Alexander Lowen. Core Energetics is based on three tenents; that the individual is a psychosomatic unit, that healing lies within, and that all of life moves towards creative evolution. Core Energetics also distinguishes itself from other modalities in its focus on moving the individual out of their somatically rooted character masks and supporting a movement of the personality toward the higher self, without negating and by transforming the energy held in the lower self aspects of the personality.

Workshop leaders, Warren Moe MA , CCEP and Lisa Loustaunau MFA, CCEP recently became the new directors at the Institute of Core Energetics, which has been training body psychotherapists since its founding in the 1970's, Both have worked in private practice for over 18 years, with individuals, couples, and groups, and have been leading workshops and training sessions around the world.
