Award-winning film Greencastle to reach new audience through college tours in 2013

The multi-award-winning film Greencastle will make its college debut in February 2013. After the past year's sleeper hit at various film festivals around the country, the film will be seen at colleges and universities on the east coast. Its college premiere will be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 5 p.m. at the James and Betty Hall Theatre at Duchess Community College located at 53 Pendell Road in Poughkeepsie, NY. Admission is free.

Greencastle was written, directed and stars comedian Koran Dunbar, whose own life loosely resembles that of his onscreen character, Poitier Dunning, an African American father raising his child in the rural setting of Greencastle, PA, following the death of his estranged wife. The film also stars Dunbar's real-life son Aurelius Dunbar as his on-screen son, and Nikki Estridge as Dunning's romantic interest.

Greencastle caused quite a stir at film festivals across the country. In addition to winning Dunbar the Best Actor Award at the World Music and Independent Film Festival in Washington, DC (where the film was nominated for 12 awards), it also won Best Feature Film at the Indie Gathering International Film Festival, and Best Sound at the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema.

Greencastle is the first full-length film produced by Dunbar's production company Rags2Riches Productions. You can view the film's trailer and purchase the film (available in DVD) via its website at www.greencastlethefilm.com.

Koran Dunbar is a noted comedian who has been seen on Late Night with Conan O'Brien as well as MTV's Real World.
