Back by popular demand: Harrisburg native holds book signing, discusses forgiveness following son’s brutal attack

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) May 3, 2011 -- For the second time in six months, Shirley Witmer-Marquez is back in town to crusade against violence.

A homegrown Harrisburg native, Shirley Witmer-Marquez now resides with her family in Texas, but she will appear at a special book signing for her autobiographical journal titled My Reflection in His Eyes, a mother’s harrowing tale of healing and forgiveness. The book signing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Johnny’s Barbershop, located at 102 W. Chocolate Avenue in Hershey from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.

My Reflection in His Eyes is a compilation of near-daily journaling, which Witmer-Marquez credits with helping her to heal from the anger which she initially experienced when her son was severely assaulted just a few short years ago.

The results of that brutal attack (irreversible brain damage) has since moved Witmer-Marquez to become a staunch advocate for victims’ rights both in Texas and here in Pennsylvania. Today, Witmer-Marquez addresses victims to help in the healing process that can lead to a more meaningful life, as well as addresses offenders to help them better understand the devastation to entire families the offenders often leave in their wake.
