FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) August 31, 2011 -- Grand Rapids, Aug 23, 2011: The back-to-school chaos of notebooks, rulers, and shiny packs of colorful Crayolas is in full swing. Parents, check your lists! Your child may be returning to classes without one very important item – health insurance!

A shocking 127,000 Michigan children are estimated to be uninsured. Families may be unaware the risk that this causes – or how simple it is to find a solution.

With the general cause for uninsured kids stemming from a lack of awareness, a handful of Lansing-based organizations focused on awareness and quality of health insurance have pushed a statewide campaign meant to show parents how easy and accessible their children’s insurance options can be.

The MPCA (Michigan Primary Care Association), MHA (Michigan Health & Hospital Association) and the Middle Cities Education Association have teamed up and created the Enroll Michigan program – a movement whose end goal is to get as many uninsured kids signed up for MIChild or Healthy Kids as possible.

Both MIChild, and Healthy Kids are health insurance plans available for Michigan children under the age of 19. They cover a wide variety of benefits – from regular check-ups to hospital care. For a low cost ($10 a month with little to no co-pay) these programs enable vision, dental, and mental care as well as standard medical – not to mention generous prenatal and post-delivery services for mothers.

Visiting enrollmichigan.com will put parents in direct contact with a representative who can walk them through the process of signing up a child for either plan. In most cases, this will last no longer than a half hour – and paperwork is minimal. In fact, an application can be completed over the phone, as well as online!

To incentivize these efforts, the MPCA have stepped up and offered a $10 Meijer or CVS gift card to those who make a successful referral, resulting in a child being signed up for either program.

So, spread the word! Giving a child the health insurance they need has never been so easy.
