Barcode Software and Fonts package adds console application for generating barcodes in bulk

ConnectCode, a leading provider of barcode software and fonts, today announced the release of a new version of ConnectCode Barcode Fonts (v8.0). This new version adds an advance console application for creating barcodes in Windows Command Prompt or Shell Scripts. The application accepts inputs such as data to be encoded and barcode symbology as command line parameters. With this capability, external or third party tools can easily create professional barcodes by executing the console application and users will be able to integrate the barcode generation process into their enterprise workflow processes.

By allowing barcodes to be generated using a console application also offers several other advantages. Scripts can be created to generate barcodes with a running number to tag products at item level. The product numbers can also be specified in a text file for the console application to create barcodes in bulk.

Besides the console application, this new version also supports Human Readable Text of a barcode as embedded in the barcode font or as a separate independent object. For Embedded Human Readable Text, the barcode and text are embedded as a single entity that is simple to use and can be easily copied to other applications. For Independent Human Readable Text, the barcode and text are separate entities that can be sized and styled independently.

This version also provides significant updates to the existing Excel-Add In, Crystal Reports Formulas and Image Generator. The Encoder, .Net library and Excel VBA formulas of the GS1 Databar barcode also come with capabilities to automatically detect or generate the MOD 10 check-digit.
