Barn in the Sticks, an online retailer featuring USA made birding supplies including birdhouses and feeders has now started making their own product line, featuring reclaimed wood, recycled wood, from torn-down Wyoming snow fence. The product line currently offers several bluebird houses, a bat house and soon to come a hopper style bird feeder. The products can be found at http://barninthesticks.com/contents/en-us/d63_Barn_in_the_Sticks.html. Currently, the product is made using Wyoming snow fence, but according to owner, Chad Mathys, "We started with Wyoming snow fence, because it was available, but will soon be also offering birdhouses and feeders also made using reclaimed barn board."
Mathys explained that the wood used to make many bird houses on the market come from the trees, which are the birds' natural home. We are using wood reclaimed, so a single tree is not cut for our line of reclaimed bird feeders, birdhouses and bat houses.
Barn in the Sticks has been alive since 2006, when Mathys created it. It only offers made in the USA product from suppliers like Droll Yankees, Looker Products, Woodlink, Songbird Essentials, Fiddler's Elbow and Aspects, which are made in the USA. "The new products will only compliment our line of great American Made products", Mathys said.
Along with great products, Mathys also offers help for birders and more generally, people having problems with birds, bats, bugs, and nature. "We offer a great line of bee and wasp proof hummingbird feeders, which has really become our calling card, along with that, we started the 'bat excluder' to safely remove bats from your home, rather than killing nature, we help you understand nature and live with it. Bats can help control mosquitoes, bees can help pollinate flowers and your garden, and squirrels can be fun to watch", said Mathys. In reference to Barn in the Sticks' bat houses, bat excluders, mason bee houses, and squirrel feeders. If you are having problems with bees in your hummingbird nectar, bats in your attic, or bees, Barn in the Sticks is the place to visit.
A new project that Mathys has started with Barn in the Sticks is offering advice on one bird a month. The first month was the Northern Cardinal. Today, if you look at Barn in the Sticks home page, you will see how to attract the Black-Capped Chickadee. There is more to come, including the screech owl, bats, downy woodpeckers and more.
