BASIC TUESDAYS ON JANUARY 18: A MULTI-GENRE GROUP ARTSHOW AT BAR BASIC

San Diego, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 13, 2011 -- Painting comes in various shapes and forms. The upcoming group art show at Bar Basic on January 18 will feature a wide array of painting styles and influences. The exhibition presented by Thumbprint Gallery will include painters working in anything from abstract styles of Rich Walker to graffiti elements apparent in local artist Amon.

Rich Walker is a veteran in the San Diego art scene with past shows in various venues including Thumbprint Gallery, The Lab, and Kate Ross. The artist was also featured on a San Diego CityBeat cover last year. Walker has also been a regular artist at Tuesday art shows at Bar Basic since 2008.

Amon’s work draws influences from graffiti elements with traces of abstract expressionism. The artist has displayed several times at Bar Basic art shows organized by Thumbprint Gallery. Amon is also known around San Diego as a b-boy and DJ. He was the featured DJ at Thumbprint Gallery’s last opening reception in North Park.

Other artists displaying will include Lenka Majek with her surrealist paintings and Eric Wixon with his urban abstract expressionist work. Additionally, Benjamin Heneberry, Terry Matsuoka, Mofo, Andre Power, theariseone, and Tara Nichole will be showing. Also, True Delorenzo will be painting live portraits, while Alan B and drdiggs provide the music.

The event is open to the public and there is no cover. However, attendees must be over the age of 21. A variety of food and drinks will be available from Bar Basic’s excellent menu. The event starts at 7pm and will run until midnight. Bar Basic is located at 410 Tenth Avenue in downtown.
