NDPAC (New Dominion Political Action Committee) fetes Michael and Son CEO at annual confab
Michael and Son’s Basim Mansour cited at annual “Candidates Night” dinner

Alexandria, VA – Basim Mansour, CEO and president of Michael and Son Services, has just been announced as the honored recipient of the 2011 NDPAC’s OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD.

Mansour, long noted for his charitable activities in the many communities his company serves*, was especially touched and most grateful for the award. He said, “It’s my privilege to be in a position to offer help and aid in the many places Michael and Son Services call home. For this award, I thank the fine people of the NDPAC on behalf of everyone at Michael and Son who, without their support, no such achievement would be possible. And I’ll conclude by stating this: that it’s critically important we never lose sight of who the real boss is. Whether you’re in my line of work or whether you’re a politician, the real boss is the consumer, the customer, the people we all serve. Lose connection with them and chances for success and meeting career goals are difficult. I thank you.”
President/Treasurer of NDPAC, Saba L. Shami, said, “Our New Dominion PAC holds an annual Candidate Night for the Arab-American community; this was our 10th consecutive gathering since our founding in 2001. As with most years, the event was held at the Tysons Corner Marriott. This past Sunday evening, September 25th, it was my privilege to present Basim Mansour with our ‘Outstanding Community Service Award.’ Basim continues to do remarkable service in all the communities in which Michael and Son serves. He is a most worthy honoree and we thank him for all that he does.”

Shami explained that the NDPAC mission is to serve as a voice for Arab-Americans in Virginia by strengthening partnerships between the Arab-American community at the state level with elected officials, and by informing those representatives and others about the unique contributions-of-and-concerns-among the Arab-American communities.

Shami, in his introductory remarks, highlighted some of Mansour’s particular committments with things like regularly visiting high schools to counsel young people seeking career guidance, with initiatives like ‘Michael and Son Cares’ and sending hundreds of less-fortunate kids to skating parties while also supplying Christmas gifts and favors, assisting families with home maintenance and equipment who’d otherwise not be able to afford such services, and assisting families of fallen soldiers. Shami made special mention of the countless hours of volunteerism and funds donated by Michael and Son Services to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
In addition to all candidates for the Virginia House of Delegates, State Senate and local government for Northern Virginia, NDPAC had as the evening’s guest speakers Senator Mark Warner and former Virginia governor, Tim Kaine.
