Behind Dr. Phil McGraw’s Mask

September 01,2011 - I, being an introvert individual, sought advice from self-help books and psychologist’s advices rather than blurting it all out to a certain friend. Without exaggeration at all, I can count on my five fingers those I considered friend, a deep kind of friendship where I am comfortable enough to divulge my personal issues. This trait of mine leads to fascination to self-help books and of course talk shows that deal on confronting own demons; this leads me to watch Dr. Phil TV show religiously. The recent involvement of McGraw to a dog bite incident changes my perception of the famed doctor. I am a type of person who easily admires someone because of his wits and of course his deeds and it includes attitude, conversely the moment that I know something nasty and inhuman of the admired person then the admiration and respect that a feel turn into disgust in a jiffy.

Browsing over the net I stumble into articles and blogs concerning McGraw and his inhuman behavior. He was sued by Janet Harris when the later was bitten by McGraw’s dog. The victim is a skin-care specialist and I often seen her as a frequent guest on McGraw’s show Dr. Phil. It was just later that I’ve known that she is also a close friend with McGraw’s wife Robin McGraw. The incident took place in the doctor’s home which makes it clear that it is the couple’s liability to make sure that their pet dog will not harm their guests. Phil McGraw, knowing that he had been in the showbiz business for quite some time anticipates the bad publicity that the incident will cause to him had just gave Harris an antibiotics with a help of a nurse friend instead of taking her to a hospital. Due to improper treatment, Harris had developed an infection which eventually caused tremors in her right hand and sad to say her sense of hearing is lost permanently. Such condition is called pastuerellamultocida, an infection caused from a dog bite that is fatal if left untreated, which sad what happened to Harris.

But reports said McGraw’s hired attorneys asked the charges made by Harris to be dismissed because Harris, the victim had signed an arbitration agreement and she has no case. I cannot assert the validity of this particular statement, but then one thing is for sure, Harris should get herself Dallas premises liability attorneys to defend her and to know her rights. Granted that this is true, I can fairly say that McGraw is wicked, cunning and evil down to the core. How can a seemingly well-mannered psychologist act so inhumane and guiltless? He just lost a fan, and no matter how hard-working his publicists are to somehow revive his image, it will not just work for me.
