Previous research showed plant sterol has a similar chemical structure and cellular function to that of human cholesterol. Consumption of these foods results in the lowering of total blood cholesterol as well as LDL-cholesterol levels, while having no detrimental effect on HDL-cholesterol levels resulting in overall improvements in the blood lipid profile.” From evidence provided in over 80 clinical studies supporting the effectiveness of plant sterol on cholesterol management, on average an 8.8% drop on LDL cholesterol (the harmful form) was noted clearly contributing to overall cholesterol management.
