Benchmark Painting & Carpentry Supports the Fisher House Charity Project
Benchmark Painting, along with other members of the PDCA Metro group (Painting and Decorating Contractors of America) will donate time and resources to the Fisher House Charity Project.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 2, 2009 --
On Friday, December 4th and Saturday, December 5th, several members of the PDCA Metro group will donate their time, expertise and resources to help revitalize the Fisher House, a "home-away-from-home" located at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.
Benchmark is honored to be a part of this laudable project. Tom Chervek, a project coordinator and past president of the PDCA Metro group and Luis Arraya, a foreman, will represent Benchmark.
The Fisher House is a facility "for families of patients receiving medical care on an inpatient basis, and under certain circumstances, on an outpatient basis. The Fisher House is a temporary residence, not a treatment facility, hospice or a counseling center. [The] staff does not include nurses or doctors. No medical procedures are taking place at Fisher House except for the ones family members have been trained to provide for their families (in the privacy of their rooms).
In addition, the Fisher House allows families who are a fair distance from home to stay in a family environment close to the patient. In most cases, the House also allows for the entire immediate family to stay together, thus helping to keep the family strong through times of crisis.
Furthermore, the House helps in reducing costs as the room rates are far more reasonable than those of a local hotel. The House provides the family with homelike comforts such as a fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, and outdoor play areas for children.
Lastly, the Fisher House provides families with a place where they can relax and unwind from the tensions of a hospital environment."
For more information about the project, please call Tom Chervek at 301-949-1100.
