FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A credit card is something in the possession of the majority of adults who are aware of the convenience, and sometimes financial problems, they bring. However public knowledge of International Credit Cards (also known as Offshore Credit Card) is not so widespread and can lead to some confusion.
The definition of an International Credit Card is simply credit cards issued by Private Banking Institutions (also known as ‘Offshore Banks’), in this case meaning that the jurisdiction of the issuing bank is different to that of the cardholder.
Obviously an International Credit Card will necessitate a Private Bank Account located in another Jurisdiction. There are many reasons to have a Private Bank Account in another country – and with sometimes substantial amounts involved, the use of such a card has obvious benefits.
It is worth noting that there are many similarities between an International Credit Card and their domestic predecessors in that they typically carry a Visa or Mastercard logo and offer many of the same benefits such as travel and emergency services, statements and convenience. However there is a notable and important difference between the two types of cards, being that the vast majority of reputable International Credit Cards are ‘secured’ cards. This basically means that investors are required to place a ‘security deposit’, thereby bypassing credit checks. The amount of deposit varies but usually ranges from 125% to 150% of the credit line requested, but can rise as high as 200%. Depositing this renders the credit card secure for both parties concerned.
It is very common to take into consideration that there is usually an initial administration fee to set up the International Credit Card, and these charges vary between the institutions arranging them.
The fees involved and the requirement of a deposit may lead one to enquire as to whether there is actually any benefit to having an International Credit Card. There is, and basically it is a matter of the card providing convenient and direct access to the Private Bank Account. In times gone by, the time and expense involved in completing ‘Offshore’ bank wires and transfers (or in more extreme cases, travelling to make a personal withdrawal) meant that retrieving smaller sums from the depositors bank was difficult. The International Credit Card provides this convenient alternative.
There are a couple of factors to beware of before deciding to proceed with this type of card. Firstly, the card is not for everyone. As well as the cost involved in obtaining the card, there will also need to be a certain deposit to cover the spending made via the card. Unless there will be an obvious benefit, or several small withdrawals are planned then this type of card may not be the best option.
The second factor to be aware of are the marketing of ‘Unsecured’ International or Offshore cards, and few things seem to highlight the shady side of Private or Investment banking better than this type of card scam. Unsecured cards are virtually impossible to obtain and are not issued by Private Banking institutes except to very well known clients. These types of offers are usually attempts to con people out of their initiation or set up fee, and should be avoided. Secured deposits are a prerequisite of an International Credit Card as mentioned previously, and is simply a more convenient way of accessing your money. The deposit makes this card not a ‘credit card’ as such, but has the benefit of eliminating the risks posed by domestic credit cards.
Now that the differences have been explained, it is advisable as always to research the matter carefully as there are a seemingly infinite number of options available. As long as the matter is investigated properly, the benefits of an International Credit Card are there for the convenience of those in need of better access to their Private Bank Accounts.
