Bergmann & Co. International – U.S. Job Growth Ground to a Halt.

Lakeville, Minnesota, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) September 27, 2011 -- Bergmann & Co. International: The US Labor Department’s highly-anticipated nonfarm payrolls data disappointed yet again as it revealed that the US economy created zero jobs in August.

To add insult to injury, July’s 117,000 gain was revised downwards to a mere 85,000. The news capped off a lackluster week for an equity market still none the wiser about the Fed’s plans for additional monetary stimulus.

An Bergmann & Co. International strategist said, “If you compare market sentiment this time last year after Ben Bernanke’s Jackson Hole speech, there’s a huge difference. Last year, the market knew QE2 was coming but this year, they most certainly don’t.”

The Dow Jones and the S&P500 fell sharply on opening as investors weighed the prospect of another recession in the world’s biggest economy.

“Gold gained sharply as investors bet the US government might make another attempt at fiscal stimulus,” said an “Bergmann & Co. International” researcher.

“Fiscal stimulus in the form of infrastructure spending would not find its way into equities but it would still result in additional government borrowing and more debt which obviously increases gold’s appeal as a safe-haven asset,” concluded the researcher.
