November 9th is the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Join in the city’s celebrations with this three night stay on offer from directline citybreaks 020 8239 3399 www.directline-citybreaks.co.uk Departing London Gatwick on Sunday November 8 with 3* accommodation, the price is from £132pp
In what promises to be a spectacular night, Berlin’s ‘Festival of Freedom’ will attract a host of world leaders together with hundreds of thousands of revellers. Following an open-air concert conducted by Daniel Barenboim, the fall of the wall will be symbolised by the knocking over of a thousand 2.5 metre-high dominos which follow the line of the wall. The dominos have been designed by school children and as the last one tumbles a firework display breaks out over the Brandenburg Gate marking the start of an all night party.
The 3* Scandotel Castor Berlin is in the Shoenefeld area of the city with ‘KaDeWe’, the Harrods of Germany, around the corner together with some great shopping in the Kurfstundamm Boulevard. All rooms have a shower and flat screen satellite TV and there is a cosy bar with plenty of restaurants nearby.
The price of £132 is per person based on two sharing three nights accommodation with breakfast and includes return flights from London Gatwick.
